Anvil.

Giving you the music a day early:

Heavy metal needs a few feel-good stories, and one of the biggest and best is the rebirth of Canadian heavy metal trio Anvil. Following a ’90s fade into obscurity, Anvil were rescued by the 2008 documentary Anvil! The Story of Anvil. And for good reason. The band’s 1982 album Metal on Metal is a seminal recording in the history of heavy metal, influencing bands such as Metallica. Anvil is remaining in the public consciousness this time around with their touring, including a stop at Juanita’s. Fayetteville metal bands Vore and Scorned are on the bill along with Little Rock rock ‘n’ roll act The Wicked Good. Tickets are $15 in advance and $18.50 day of with the doors opening at 8 p.m. and the music at 9 p.m.

Almost nine years passed between Los Angeles’ emo-flavored rock act The Jealous Sound‘s Kill Them With Kindness album and its follow up — the January release A Gentle Reminder. Of course, there’s a reason for the delay as the band, which included Foo Fighters and Sunny Day Real Estate bassist Nate Mendel on the new album, went on a long hiatus. But now reformed, The Jealous Sound is touring, playing Stickyz on a tour that Alternative Press named as one of 14 tours across the nation to see this winter. No word on opening acts, but expect the music at 8 p.m. with a $10 cover for the 18-and-up show.

The Rev Room‘s stage is big for a club but not that big. At least, that’s what one thinks about when hearing that Dallas-based symphonic rock band The Polyphonic Spree is paying a visit. Why the concern? Well, there are band co-leaders Tim DeLaughter and Julie Doyle … and then there’s the rest of the band, playing everything from flute and trumpet to bass and drums. And oh yeah, there’s also a choir. So 20 or so members. And the music? Well, think about the bright pop melodies of The Beach Boys hanging out with the weirdness that is The Flaming Lips. Sunny and strange. The opening act is New Fumes, the one-man psychedelic, experimental rock of Daniel Huffman, a former Spree member. It’s an all-ages show with the music starting at 8:30 p.m., and tickets are $16 in advance and $20 day of show.
