Heartless Bastards.

Giving you the music a day early:

The Heartless Bastards have a new album titled Arrow coming out Feb. 14, but a week before the album drops, the band — led by the great Erika Wennerstrom — is hitting the road for a monthlong tour, kicking it all off at Juanita’s. Tickets are $12 in advance and $14 day of show. The opening act is Hacienda, a gritty-yet-harmony-heavy San Antonio rock ‘n’ roll band that emphasizes the roll a great deal, kicking off the music at 9 p.m. And these Bastards we talk of? Well, you could call them garage or blues, but what they are really is just a great rock ‘n’ roll band with plenty of jagged, powerful riffs and gritty, R&B rhythms, but also a touch of Southern soul. So yeah, garage and the blues sure, but really just rock. Really, really good rock.

Godhead is a Washington, D.C., bred metal group that has released a number of albums, and toured Ozzfest and with Marilyn Manson, Disturbed and others. And the band is still going strong, working on new music for a new album. But right now, Godhead frontman Jason Charles Miller is doing a little solo thing, releasing an album titled Uncountry in October 2011. Now, what is Uncountry? Miller explained it in an interview as a “weird combination that’s part Southern rock, part modern Nashville country, part Americana, part folk and all about really dark subjects that not everyone likes to hear.” So call it dark country, and Miller brings that dark country sound to Downtown Music. Los Angeles’ Scattered Hamlet opens the show at 8 p.m. with their “whisky-soaked blues based hard rock.” The doors open at 7 p.m. with tickets $7 in advance and $10 at the door.

Here’s Heartless Bastards with their “Parted Ways”:
