El Ten Eleven.

El Ten Eleven.

Giving you the music a day early:

Earlier this year, a few dozen people at Sticky Fingerz on a Tuesday night were treated to an amazing free show by Los Angeles-based, post-rock instrumental duo El Ten Eleven. The free treat was a performance of weirdly sophisticated music created by a bass/guitar doubleneck, fretless and regular basses, effects pedals and drums, such as the chiming, chugging, intelligent rock of “I Like Van Halen Because My Sister Says They Are Cool.” Luckily, the duo are returning to Sticky Fingerz for another musical assault, such as the pulsating, dancey rock of “Jumping Frenchmen of Maine.” No opening act has been announced, but the music rolls at 9 p.m. with a $6 cover for the 21-and-up show.

Formed by vocalist Glenn Danzig and bassist Jerry Only in Lodi, N.J., in 1977, the Misfits use of shocking, horror-movie inspired lyrics and warp-speed hardcore punk developed the band a huge following in the underground during their seven-year existence and an even larger cult following. Twenty-five years later, the legendary Misfits have returned with two new tunes of horror rock, and Only is joined by former Black Flag alum Dez Cadena on guitar and original Misfits drummer Robo for tour that visits The Village for a night of aggressive music with black and white, B-horror movie influenced lyrics. The doors open at 7 p.m. with the music kicking off at 8 p.m. General admission tickets are $21 advance and $25 at the door.
